With the lockdown in March keeping everyone away from the office, I decided to create a Covid Simulator in Unreal 4. I created a miniature town with residents that went to work, church, and other activities. I introduced one infected person and watched how the infection spread through the town.
I also introduced an isolation and mask protocol to show how masks helped slow the exponential spread of the disease. Infections were more severe in older sims, and this caused more hospitalizations and in some cases, death. All data was used from real world infection rates and I could vary the speed, age groups, and population of the town.
A sobering but powerful teaching tool.
